Our wonderful SNA taught all of our class how to knit. We don’t think everybody knew how to knit but we all found it very exiting. Our SNA taught us in turns. Firstly, we would pick our colours. There was a huge variety of colours thanks to everyone bringing in wool. After we picked our wool we would start to learn how to knit. Our SNA taught us a rhyme to help us learn. (In through the bunny hole, around the big tree, out through the bunny hole, away goes she). When we all knitted a square, our SNA would crochet them all together. We finished it in no time. So we decided to make another one. Just so we did get the other blanket done we decided to let our classmates bring home their knitting. So this blanket got done even quicker. Then our SNA completed the finishing touches by crocheting the ends.
Finally, our blankets were done. Then our class got to knit a small piece of wool to keep for ourselves. Also when we were doing the blankets we took pictures for our class, we got a huge hand from our teacher and our SNA, we also showed the principal our work, she was amazed by our work and the effort we had put in to the blanket. The blanket was so soft, colourful and fluffy, we wanted to bring it home for ourselves. Everyone in our school was very proud of our work but we were the most proud of ourselves. We had lots of fun and we thought it was a great skill to have. On a scale of 1 to 10 we all rated it a 10. Not only were we doing a good deed for someone else but we were also having a great learning experience while having fun! We think other schools should try it.
